In this position, you will maintain, clean, and repair public grounds within the County. You will work under close supervision according to set procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.

Essential Functions:
• Ensures that grounds and plantings within the County are properly trimmed and in good repair, including cutting grass, weed eating, blowing off sidewalks, edging, herbicide, and grass seeding.
• Cleans and maintains public spaces, including picking up trash, empty trash cans, and cleaning of restrooms
• Operates equipment safely, including zero-turn mower, lawn and yard equipment, and bush hog. Performs preventative maintenance on equipment.

Advanced Skills for Ground Maintenance Worker:
• Sports field Maintenance
o Baseball/Softball-Setting infield with correct pitching and bases, dragging, lining off fields
o Painting lines- painting straight lines for Football, soccer, etc.
• Basic electrical, plumbing skills
• Equipment operation
o Operating tractor and chain saw
o Fertilizing grounds
o Top dressing fields
o Turf Equipment
o Irrigation repairs- repairing lines and replacing sprinkler heads

Operating specialized equipment:
• Laser grader
• Skid steer
• Aerator
• Field sprayer
• Top dresser.

Knowledge and skills in the following areas:
• Spraying fields
• Laser grading infields
• Advance Electrical, plumbing, carpentry
• Advance irrigation repairs- working on values, trouble shooting issues

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
• Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent
• Requires six months of experience in maintenance.
• Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
