Greenwood County is seeking an experienced and motivated professional to serve as our next City/County Planner. This position plays a key role in guiding growth and development throughout Greenwood County by providing planning expertise, reviewing development proposals, assisting citizens and developers, and supporting long-range planning initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative leader with strong communication skills, planning experience, and a passion for serving the community.

What You'll Do

Assist citizens, property owners, and developers with land use planning and development processes.
Review, analyze, and provide recommendations on rezoning applications.
Serve on the Planning Commission and the City of Greenwood Board of Architectural Review.
Prepare reports, narratives, presentations, and planning documents.
Review and approve subdivision plats and manufactured home permits.
Assist with updates and amendments to County ordinances.
Issue Code Clearance and Zoning Compliance forms.
Participate in long-range planning initiatives, GIS analysis, and special projects.
Make public presentations and work with community stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business, Liberal Arts, Urban Planning, or a related field.
Ten (10) years of planning experience.
Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Schedule

Monday – Thursday
7:45 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Enjoy a four-day work week and a three-day weekend every week.
